Our PAST
We come from humble, hard working beginnings in Tyler, Texas in 1978. Our first store, Racquet & Jog, was small and had just enough space to store and sell a couple of tennis racquets and a few pairs of Nike Tennis and Running shoes. Growing popularity with the local tennis and racquet ball clubs introduced the first ever "RJ Tee", now known by local Texans as "TYLER'S Tees".

Flatwater's Dam That Cancer is the premier fundraising event for Flatwater Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides access to mental health therapy in the wake of cancer. Flatwater connects individuals with therapists to help clear their mind, heal their body, and find the strength to take on a diagnosis. Since inception, Flatwater has paid for over 58,000 hours of therapy.
In May, we will announce the 2023 crew of 230 paddlers – each one hand picked from a list of hundreds of applicants. Past participants include Olympic Medalists: Trey Hardee, Kristine Lilly, Aaron Peirsol, Eric Shanteau, and Brendan Hansen, three-time Stanley Cup Champion Chris Chelios plus an abundance of influential Austin business owners, C-level executives and cancer survivors. The common thread of all, to provide a ray of light for people affected by cancer via the services of Flatwater.
